Handy Caddy

Toolbox sounds so manly.
But caddy sounds way more darling.

These are special to me, since the red spindles
were from a tattered chair out of my daddy's
pole shed.  I have memories of it sitting on the dirt
floor with saw marks on the seat & various colors
of spray paint here and there.  He used it to death.

So naturally I offered my mom & sister
first dibs on these caddies.

Sis took the big one.  She'll do something cute with it.

Here is the other caddy,
all dolled up for the holiday!

What would YOU store in this caddy???

Merry Christmas everyone.
Please remember,
Jesus is the reason for the season!

Ugly Duckling #1

You know you've seen heart items
while thrifting & passed them by.

The day I bought this one...
I must have been feeling pretty
confident.  Lets face it, this is ugly.

Before:

It's a boring pale green.
Can you believe I paid $4?
Lets just say it's very sturdy.

Nothing a little turquoise can't fix,
right???

After:

Usually I distress edges, but didn't want to
distract people from the creative backdrop!

I glued old dictionary pages onto cardboard for a
sassy cool mod-vintage look!

It was a breeze to decorate this shelf with
little berry baskets, candy, Kand-ice, and more!

This Kand-ice still works
& was a rare garage sale find!

My mother-in-law gave me this big Santa mug
to sell in a garage sale. Instead, I used some
Pinterest inspiration to make him
cute Christmas decor!

Well, what do you think?
Show me some love with comments!

~Merry Christmas~

December

Hi folks, It's December now & time to set out
your unique junk decor for the holiday.
Have you started?

I added some red ribbon & evergreens to
a pair of old skates.  You see these hung on
old wooden sleds quite a bit.

I opted to keep the dirty old look,
rather than paint them.
They have a date of 1943 stamped on them!
It was pretty gross, finding a mouse nest inside.
Once I got that cleaned out,
I stuffed the toes with newspaper.
These certainly aren't stiff like the modern skates.

I found an old candle mold
which was hard for me to use
 in any decorating situation.
So it seemed logical to just hang it with
greens & a pretty bow for Christmas.

Alone it's pretty shabby, but looks
darling with that glitter bow.

The last item I'll share today, is an old
tall crate.  It was just begging
for some evergreen boughs & a
flashy bow.

Now we just need more snow
to really give it that magical
winter look.

UP north

I found an old kitchen cabinet door at a garage sale.
I just love them, they're like blank canvas for me!

Using my Cricut machine,  I cut adhesive vinyl stencils.

We have a lot of lakes here &
the cabin folks LOVE that style decor.
I'm a white-tailed deer fanatic,
so this craft had me smiling the whole time!

Check out the unique edging...

I used Stazon ink  & stamped
a map image all the way around!

The stamp is called Travel Notes,
from the Unity Stamp Company.

Can you believe this door cost me only a buck?
*giggle*

Christmas Jars

It's a bit early, don't be mad!
The Christmas bug bit me & I can't help but give in.
We have snow on the ground & it's been cold.
So here starts my Christmas crafts & decorations...

I've done a garden theme canning jar set,
but this is my first holiday one!

Each jar was filled with various Christmas or winter items.
You can see the bottle brush tree, false snow, and
some red berries.  I also used a metal holly cookie cutter,
pine boughs, cinnamon sticks, and birch bark.

I was on a role, so I jazzed up this
thrift find.

This homemade jigsaw deer didn't sell
for me last year.  I'm hoping the bell wreath
around his neck will give him more festive appeal!

Desk Organizer

It's been a few months since Junk Bonanza, but I am ready to share my biggest purchase.  When you go to a show like that, you never know what you'll end up buying.  I just NEEDED this item.  Why?  No idea.  It spoke to me & it was the only one I saw.  It caught my eye.  Plus I knew there were 3 possible locations in my house that it might fit.  It is extremely long!

Can you believe this measures a whopping 54 1/2", which is ironically what my Hoosier cabinet measures!  What are the odds?

There are lots of cubbies to fill & will keep  me searching for fun little items.
Don't you LOVE the mismatched drawer pulls?

It has some flaws, which honestly make me love it more.
(Is that strange?) This cubbie edge is chipped wood.

One of these circle drawers is long gone missing.

To me, it's no matter.

Are you ready for the real shocker?
My jaw dropped when I saw this....

It looks like those curved edges,
framing my wedding photograph are just
decorative.

Guess again!

SECRET DRAWERS!

I can't believe someone took the time to add
such an amazing detail to this desk top!
I'm so glad they aren't missing & still function.

Did you notice the film strip bow, directly below the organizer?

The vendors formerly know as Pickers Playground,
had me wishing I'd bought this bow at the April show.
I snatched one up this fall & they now call themselves
They've opened a shop in Wisconsin!

I hope you've enjoyed seeing my favorite new-old item!
Sadly, I am uncertain of which vendor sold this to me.

Painted Jars

If you've been following me here through the years,
you know I love dry hydrangeas!
I end up with many bundles each year from
my greenhouse job. They make great
fall decor & are cheap crafts.

This milk jug was painted with Tim Holtz Distress Paint.
It didn't seem to cover well, but after a few coats
I realized it had great adhesion!

I added a handmade tag and some
shabby ribbon to jazz it up.

The Ball jar was painted with Dutch Boy.
I added a tag, key & some lace!

Industrial Stool

If you've ever owned a vintage vanity,
you may understand that a regular
sized chair simply does not work well.
My vanity looks like a desk, but most
have mirrors & were for women to do
their hair and apply make up.

So to make my waterfall style piece usable,
I set off to Junk Bonanza in search of the
perfect sized stool!

I had measurements & a tape measure.
It didn't take me long to locate exactly what
I was hoping to find.  The stool had to be
narrow & short.

I nearly stole this stool, at a mere $12.
That left me quite a bit of mad money to
blow at the show!

Now just look how perfect the stool is
in it's new permanent home...

I needed a hefty stool,
not a foo-foo chair.
I love it.

Let me know what you think!
Does it look okay together?

Bundt Pan Pumpkin

I found a chippy old bundt pan for sale &
gave it a coat of orange paint.

Before:

After:

I put a screw up from the bottom, through two sizes of washers,
then the pan opening, then a washer, into the wood handle.

I wrapped the faux leaf wire stems
round the pumpkin handle.

This was a pretty easy project.
I think it looks darling.
