New Life to Old Boots

A pair of old mud boots handed down through the years eventually no longer keep out the mud.  Do you toss them out???  No way Jose! 

I bought $2 worth of fake daffodils from Walmart & bundled the well worn boots with pretty ribbon.  This is a quick yet festive project sure to get attention on any porch or entry!

I love free stuff, most of you know this already.  A pile of FREE pallets by Golden Rule Lumber called my name & I loaded my pickup truck to the roof.  My husband LOVES when I bring junk home! (not)

Made from a "mini" pallet!

Now, here is what NO one tells you about pallets:   They have the most stubborn nails I have EVER tried to pull out.  A crow bar & hammer worked, but it took some aggressive finesse.  I broke MANY boards. The dismantling takes time, so don't be in a hurry for this project or it'll turn out in shambles. It's a good thing I had a few pallets to work with.

I recently stocked my craft booth with a few new items.  One is simple, the other slightly more decorative.  They both have a nice aged neutral color.  This guarentees they'll fit in nicely with any room's color scheme!

Which do you like better?  Are you more of a tiered tissue flower/burlap person or even stacked hemp bundle person?

Smothered In Ivy

I pondered what to do with the old Singer sewing machine for a while.  It's a heavy, odd piece.  It's still a little early to add decor to my brown spring garden.  Instead, I created a scene in my bathroom using my beloved ivy plant.

The old suitcase helps cover the beat up top of my old (free) buffet!

I made the banner using some stamps & vintage ribbon.

(I'm not sure how the pennants turned out looking like teeth!)

My latest junk treasures are well weathered but still gorgeous objects in my eyes!

The old wood cook stove below took a little work, but I did get the decorative sign off it!

It sure makes my modern stove seem so UGLY!

Water Beads

My mommy bought me the most unique gift for my birthday.  It's a home decor item called Water Beads.  Florist use them & they the most peculiar invention!  You soak the beads in water & they swell up.  My son calls them eyeballs.  My mom said down in Florida, they mostly have bamboo shoots in them.

Here is what I made at home, a poor man's bouquet ($15).  I did make good use of the arrangement for church movie night & Sunday service.

I hope this helps you understand Water Beads.  If you're big into flowers, you might want to try this product.  I'm no expert & don't know if there are good/bad quality beads.  The prices online seem to differ greatly.  You can always ask your local florist what she uses & likes.  They would possibly even sell you some.

Sofa

I have to share the cutest old sofa for sale in a nearby town.  It's the cutest fabric with some fancy wood designs.  I would put it in my house in a heart beat, if my boys weren't young & rambunctious!

Don't you love it?  Strawberries, blossoms, leaves, baskets & such dark tones!  It's not priced & only marked with a phone number.  At some point curiosity might force to inquire the price.  I love it.

Tea Pot Top

 I love rubber stamp photo holders.   Likewise, I've made some from wooden toy blocks.  Why not try one using a rusty old tea pot top?  The cute little top was rescued from an homestead garbage dump. You gotta love free stuff! 

I would recommend stronger wire, but this is what I had on hand.
